Update from the Land of the Long White Cloud. Skiing…. and a bit of surfing by Kris Atkinson
I recently made it back from New Zealand and wanted to share my travels with you.
The New Zealand training camp was amazing, I progressed my skiing well past my expectations and feel super prepared for the upcoming competition season. We started off the trip with the first 2 weeks in the public halfpipe at Cardrona resort, with the main purpose being to get our ski legs back and become confident in skiing the halfpipe again.
We then had a funded 1 week surfing camp in Australia for a little down time and cross training.
The last 2 weeks we spent back at Cardrona at their private spring camp, the purpose of the portion of the camp was to relearn our tough tricks and any new tricks we wanted for the competition season.
The surfing camp in Australia and the private spring camp at Cardrona were absolutely brilliant. I had so much fun surfing in Australia and was thrilled to go to a country that I had always dreamed of visiting. The spring camp at Cardrona was also amazing; we were blessed with great weather and a perfect halfpipe. I managed to train my hardest trick to near perfection and am very excited to start competing soon.
Also, I am very excited to have been invited to compete at the Dew Tour in Breckenridge, CO., at the beginning of December. The season is quickly approaching!
